Big Bocs Bwyd

Big Bocs Bwyd is a community initiative aimed at tackling food waste and improving food access for families. Partnering with Fareshare, an organization that collects surplus food that would otherwise go to landfill, we provide affordable, nutritious food to families at Cadoxton School and the wider community. By offering this food through the Big Bocs Bwyd program, we make it accessible for families and the community while promoting sustainability.

In addition to providing food, our mission also focuses on food literacy. We aim to educate children and families about healthy eating, food preparation, and the importance of reducing food waste. Through engaging activities and educational resources, we hope to empower people to make informed decisions about food, while also addressing the environmental challenges of food waste. By tackling both food insecurity and waste, Big Bocs Bwyd works to create a healthier, more sustainable community for all.

In addition to providing food, Big Bocs Bwyd is also driven by a group of passionate young leaders, known as the Big Bocs Bwyd Leaders. These children are at the heart of the initiative, actively promoting and running the program by being involved in every aspect. From helping to collect, sort, and distribute the food, to organizing educational activities and community outreach (like the good food café), the Big Bocs Bwyd Leaders take a hands-on approach to tackling food waste and promoting food literacy.​
